Information

The BioMicro MAUI hybridization unit allows the simultaneous hybridization of 12 microarrays at a specified temperature. Each microarray is first equipped with a plastic "mixer" that is attached to the microarray via an adhesive strip. Subsequently, microarrays are placed in the MAUI hybridization unit where pumps allow active mixing of labeled samples on the array surface.

We have found that this leads to brighter signal and less of a gradient in intensity across the surface of the array. This is especially helpful with large arrays (32-tip or 48-tip). By using this system, more data can be attained due to much larger signal to noise ratios and gains in sensitivity allowing rare mRNAs to be detected.

You must be <trained> by a member of the Core Facility before you schedule or begin using the MAUI.

You will need your own mixers for every array you intend to hybridize. We do provide tips for loading labeled material into the mixers and a loading jig, but no other disposables for general use.
