The Febit Geniom One is an instrument that allows the custom design, production and analysis of microarrays all in one instrument. The Geniom One combines microfluidics with light-activated oligonucleotide synthesis to allow the custom synthesis of oligo probes on a microarray surface. Each chip is subdivided into 8 arrays; 6,776 50-mer oligos can be individually specified on each of the arrays during a synthesis cycle. Unlike other custom array synthesis instruments, the oligos on these arrays can be synthesized in a 5' to 3' orientation, leaving a free 3' end available for enzymatic modifications. After synthesis, small volumes of samples can be hybridized to the array surface, washed away, and then imaged using the same instrument.
You must be trained by an employee of Febit Inc before you schedule or begin using the Geniom One. If you are interested in trying this instrument, please contact <Clement Chu > to arrange a training session.
You must provide your own reagents for the array oligo synthesis. These chemicals can be purchased from Febit. Clement Chu has information on the necessary reagents and prices.
